The newest Synchro Monster to enter the competitive fray is T.G. Hyper Librarian. Since T.G. Hyper Librarian allows its controller to draw a card every time a monster is Synchro Summoned, it’s important to get rid of your opponent’s Librarian before another Synchro Monster is Summoned. Once an opponent Summons T.G. Hyper Librarian and starts Synchro Summoning monsters while it’s on the field, it may be too late for you to catch up to all of the free cards your opponent was able to draw.

Fortunately, there are lots of ways to handle your opponent’s T.G. Hyper Librarian before it becomes a nuisance. The best way may be by taking control of it.
T.G. Decks and TG1-EM1 have been gaining a lot of popularity recently, and are even better with T.G. Hyper Librarian on the tournament scene. T.G. Decks are packed with monsters that replace themselves with new ones when they’re destroyed, and now you can use TG1-EM1 to trade those monsters for your opponent’s T.G. Hyper Librarian. Since T.G. Decks are also able to Synchro Summon lots of monsters, you’ll then be able to put that Librarian to work by using it to draw cards when you Synchro Summon monsters.
If you’re not running a T.G. Deck that has access to TG1-EM1, you can use Tuner’s Scheme to take control of T.G. Hyper Librarian when it’s Summoned instead. Tuner’s Scheme can take control of any Synchro Monster when it’s Special Summoned, and may become a popular Side Deck card as a result of Hyper Librarian’s rising popularity.
Use TG1-EM1 and Tuner’s Scheme to take control of T.G. Hyper Librarian before it’s used against you.

Even if you can’t take control of T.G. Hyper Librarian, there are other ways to get it off of your opponent’s field before your opponent can use it to draw cards with its effect. Trap Cards likeBottomless Trap Hole and Compulsory Evacuation Device can stop T.G. Hyper Librarian in its tracks, as soon as it’s Summoned. We may see these Trap Cards gain popularity overDimensional Prison, since they’re more effective against T.G. Hyper Librarian.

Use Trap Cards to stop your opponent’s T.G. Hyper Librarian before it can draw cards for your opponent.
If your opponent does manage to Summon T.G. Hyper Librarian and you’re not able to stop it right away, you’ll want to stop it on your next turn. Unfortunately, any monster you Synchro Summon to try to get over T.G. Hyper Librarian’s 2400 ATK will let your opponent draw a card. Luckily, the new Xyz Monsters give you ways to Summon strong monsters without performing a Synchro Summon and triggering Librarian’s power.
Number 17: Leviathan Dragon is a Rank 3 Xyz Monster with 2000 ATK. But you can instantly boost it to 2500 ATK by activating its effect. That gives it enough power to attack and destroyT.G. Hyper Librarian, without triggering the Librarian’s ability. Plus, thanks to Tour Guide From the Underworld and its ability to recruit a second Level 3 Monster from the Deck as soon as it’s Summoned, Rank 3 monsters like Leviathan Dragon are easy to Summon. Rank 4 monsters like Number 39: Utopia, with its 2500 ATK, can also be Summoned without triggering Librarian’s ability, and can be used to destroy T.G. Hyper Librarian in battle.
Summoning Xyz monsters won’t trigger Librarian’s effect.

As a last resort, you can also count on Normal Spell Cards like Creature Swap to take control of T.G. Hyper Librarian, or Dark Hole and Smashing Ground to destroy it.
Ideally, you’ll want to take down T.G. Hyper Librarian as soon as your opponent Summons it. But even if you’re not able to do that, taking it down on your next turn may get it off of the field before your opponent can start using its effect. T.G. Hyper Librarian will defeat any Duelist who isn’t prepared to face it, but with a solid strategy and some skilled Dueling, you’ll be able to take it down before it causes your demise.
