Frog Decks got a big power boost from Ronintoadin, but they aren’t the only Deck that won big from it. Monarch Decks can use it too! While Treeborn Frog has been a near staple in almost every Monarch Deck in existence for the past few years, none of the other Frog cards really helped until Swap Frog from Stardust Overdrive.

Swap Frog gave Monarch players another “Frog” card to use with their strategy, makingSubstitoad a lot more useful. Swap Frog allowed players to not only discard Treeborn Frog or any useless Swap Frogs or Substitoads in their hand in order to Special Summon itself, but it also allowed players to immediately Tribute Summon a Monarch from their hand by Tributing the Swap Frog that was just Special Summoned. Before Summoning the Monarch, Duelists could also activate Swap Frog’s effect to send Treeborn Frog to the Graveyard straight from the Deck. Using three Swap Frogs, three Substitoads, and 2 Treeborn Frogs gives the Deck a whopping eight ways to immediately start with a Treeborn Frog locked and loaded for all the Monarchs you choose to run in your Deck.

With Ronintoadin in the mix, Frogs and Monarchs just became even bigger allies. With 2000 Defense, you can easily simply set the Toad and let your foes collide harmlessly off it. Then, you can Tribute it for a Monarch next turn. Whether that ends up happening or not, chances are you’ll end up with it in the Graveyard within the next couple of turns. After all your Swap Frogs are used up, or when you have two Treeborn Frogs in your Graveyard, you might want to be able to do something useful with them. By using one or two Ronintoadin in your Froggy Monarch Deck, you’ll be able to remove those used up Frogs from play in order to Special Summon Ronintoadin from your Graveyard.

 Then you can immediately Tribute it for whatever Monarch you wish. If you started the turn by Special Summoning a Treeborn Frog from your Graveyard during your Standby Phase, then you can even Tribute both the frog and the toad for a devastating Light and Darkness Dragon!
