Koa’ki Meiru Duelists get a lot of useful new cards in The Shining Darkness, but if you’ve only seen Koa’ki Meiru Bergzak and Koa’ki Meiru Sandman, then you don’t know the half of it!  Check out these 2 new, never-before-seen Koa’ki Meiru cards.
Koa’ki Meiru Prototype is a Rock-Type monster with 1800 ATK and 1800 DEF.  It’s a good attacker, but its real strength is its 4 abilities to keep your monsters safe through the End Phase:
#1: You don’t have to reveal a card or discard anything to keep Prototype on the field.

If you use Prototype’s Special Summon ability, you can destroy 1 monster and get 2 in return.

#2: It’s a Rock-Type monster, so you can reveal it to keep Koa’ki Meiru Guardian and Koa’ki Meiru Sandman from being destroyed by their End Phase conditions.
#3: Prototype’s first effect lets you destroy it when another Koa’ki Meiru would be destroyed in the End Phase, so if you don’t have the right card to reveal, Prototype keeps your most important monster alive.
#4: Its second effect Special Summons a Koa’ki Meiru Token whenever one of your Koa’ki Meiru is destroyed during the End Phase.  Instead of just losing your monster, you replace it with an 1800 ATK / 1800 DEF Token.
Since both of Prototype’s effects involve a Koa’ki Meiru being destroyed, you can combo it withIron Core Specimen Lab to search your Deck for a Koa’ki Meiru to add to your hand.

Next up is Core Overclock, a Continuous Spell that you’ll use in 2 very different ways.  First, it automatically gives all of your Koa’ki Meiru monsters a 500 ATK boost, making a huge difference for a lot of monsters:
With Core Overclock active, Koa’ki Meiru Boulder can destroyLyla, Lightsworn Sorceress or Blackwing – Bora the Spear in battle.  Then you can search your Deck for a “Koa’ki Meiru” monster or Iron Core of Koa’ki Meiru with Boulder’s effect.
Monsters like Koa’ki Meiru Guardian go from 1900 ATK to 2400 ATK, defeating monsters like Blackwing – Sirocco the Dawn, or a 2100 ATK Gladiator Beast Laquari.
Koa’ki Meiru Urnight and Koa’ki Meiru Bergzak can destroyStardust Dragon.
And with Core OverclockKoa’ki Meiru Rooklord reaches a mighty 3300 ATK!

That 500 ATK boost is a Continuous Effect that works all the time, but Core Overclock has a second effect, too.  Once per turn, you can discard Iron Core of Koa’ki Meiru to give all of your Koa’ki Meiru another 1000 ATK: a total of 1500 extra Attack Points for each monster!  You can use that effect to attack a bigger monster like Goyo Guardian with a smaller Koa’ki Meiru.  Better yet, if you control 2 or 3 Koa’ki Meiru monsters you can use Core Overclock to deal an extra 3000 or 4500 damage with direct attacks.  If you don’t win the turn you discard Iron Core, it’s easy to get it back with its own effect or with Koa’ki Meiru Crusader.  You can then use Overclock’s +1000 ATK effect again next turn.
Core Overclock is a Continuous Spell, so you can reveal it to keep Koa’ki Meiru Ice from being destroyed in the End Phase. Ice’s ability lets you discard cards to destroy monsters that were Special Summoned, but until now, its End Phase reveal was tough to deal with. Thanks to Core Overclock and Core Transport Unit, you can easily run up to 6 Continuous Spells and reveal them for Ice’s End Phase condition, so Ice is way easier to play.
Finally, don’t forget that since Core Overclock is a Continuous Spell, not a Field Spell, you can even play with 2 or 3 at a time, giving your Koa’ki Meiru a constant +1000 or +1500 ATK bonus (500 ATK per Core Overclock).
Koa’ki Meiru Prototype and Core Overclock open up new directions for Koa’ki Meiru Decks.  Both cards make it easier to dominate the field with Koa’ki Meiru monsters, and they both lend new strength to cards you already have, too.  You can get yours on May 1st and May 2nd, atThe Shining Darkness Sneak Peek!
