One of the coolest new cards in Generation Force is Surface, a Normal Spell that lets you Special Summon a Level 3 Fish, Sea Serpent, or Aqua-Type monster from your Graveyard. The catch? Whatever you Special Summon comes up in Defense Position. It’s great if you’re going to make a Synchro Summon, Tribute Summon, or Xyz Summon, but thanks to the new world premiere card Lost Blue Breaker, it’s even better.
If there is another face-up Fish, Sea Serpent, or Aqua-Type monster on the field: You can Tribute this card to target 1 Spell/Trap Card on the field; destroy that target.
The trick to playing Lost Blue Breaker is that you can reuse it over and over with a variety of effects. To play it at its best, you’re going to need to do two things: find the right Spells and Traps to combo it with, and get another Fish, Sea Serpent, or Aqua-Type monster on the field so you can use its ability. That second part is really easy thanks to cards like these:
Deepsea Diva is a Level 2 Tuner, and it’s one of the best reasons to play Lost Blue Breaker! When you Normal Summon Diva, her effect lets you Special Summon a Level 3 or lower Sea Serpent from your Deck. Usually Duelists play that ability to get a second Diva, but now you can Summon Breaker instead, bringing it to the field for free. Since the Diva is a Sea Serpent, she lets you use Breaker’s effect: you can Special Summon Breaker; Tribute it to destroy a Spell or Trap; then capitalize immediately by using the Diva for a Synchro Summon. If your opponent doesn’t have any Spells or Traps you need to destroy, you can even Tune Diva to Breaker for a Level 5 Synchro Monster like T.G. Hyper Librarian or Ally of Justice Catastor.
Treeborn Frog is an Aqua-Type monster that you can Special Summon from your Graveyard every turn. Bring the Frog back from the watery depths, then you can Normal Summon LostBlue Breaker, Tribute it, and blow away a Spell or Trap. It works with Fishborg Blaster, too. Since Breaker’s a Level 3 WATER monster, you can Summon it, then discard a card to Special Summon Fishborg. With the Fish-Type Fishborg on the field, you can use Breaker’s ability to destroy a card.
One of the best ways to play Lost Blue Breaker is to combo it with Surface. Surface lets you Special Summon Breaker from your Graevyard, and with a monster like Treeborn Frog on the field, you’ll be able to Tribute Breaker to destroy 1 of your opponent’s cards. That leaves you free to Normal Summon something like Airorca or Mother Grizzly and follow up.
Salvage lets you return 2 WATER monsters with 1500 ATK or less from your Graveyard to your hand, so you can play it to get back Lost Blue Breaker. A banished Breaker works with Oh F!sh! as well. Oh F!sh! is a Counter Trap that negates a monster effect and destroys that monster, by returning a banished Fish, Sea Serpent, or Aqua-Type monster to your Deck.
Since Breaker’s a Level 3 monster, you can pair it with another Level 3 like Airorca to Xyz Summon Leviair the Sea Dragon. You can detach an Xyz Material from Leviair once a turn to Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower banished monster with its effect. Airorca lets you banish a monster from your hand to destroy a face-up card on the field: it then banishes itself and comes back in your next Standby Phase. Use Airorca to banish monsters and control the Duel. Then when the Orca comes back, pair it with Breaker to Xyz Summon Sea Serpent Leviair. Leviair can then Special Summon whatever you banished with Airorca.
Lost Blue Breaker combos with lots of cards in the new Generation Force Fish Deck, giving you a new way to hammer your opponent’s Spells and Traps. Play it with the right cards, and you can use Breaker to clear the way for big attackers, pay for powerful effects, and unleash Xyz Monsters
