Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon is a World Premiere Rank 5 Xyz Monster that can be Summoned by combining 2 Level 5 monster. Adreus has 2600 ATK and a killer effect that lets you to detach an Xyz Material from it once per turn to destroy a face-up card that your opponent controls.

Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 1 face-up card your opponent controls; destroy it.

Rank 5 monsters like Adreus may seem tough to Summon, but they’re actually easy to bring out if you build your Deck with that goal in mind. A simple Special Summon of Cyber Dragon orVice Dragon, joined by the activation of Instant Fusion to Special Summon a Level 5 Fusion Monster like Cyber Saurus or Flame Swordsman, will let you Xyz Summon a Rank 5 monster with very little effort. There are other combos that also let you Summon Rank 5 Xyz Monsters with ease, but we’ll talk about those another time.

The Rank 5 monsters in Generation Force make it worthwhile to build your Deck with the goal of Summoning them. There are 2 Rank 5 Monsters in Generation Force – Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon, a DARK Fiend that destroys everything in its path, and Tiras, Keeper of Genesis, a LIGHT Fairy whose power stems from its ability to protect itself from destruction. Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon wastes no time bringing the destruction. As soon as you Summon Adreus, you can detach an Xyz Material from it and destroy an opponent’s face-up card. This comes in handy when you need to guarantee the destruction of an important monster like Legendary Six Samurai – Shi En. An attack can be stopped by a Trap Card likeDimensional Prison, but Adreus’s effect will assure a monster’s destruction before Adreus’s controller even enters the Battle Phase.

Plus, since Adreus is the product of two Level 5 monsters, it hits the field with 2 Xyz Materials under it. That means you can use its effect on the turn you Summon it, and on the following turn, to destroy 2 of your opponent’s cards. Even after you detach both of Adreus’s Xyz Materials, you’ll still be left with a 2600 ATK monster who can take down tough enemies likeStardust Dragon.
