Ever since their humble beginnings in Generation Force, Level-changing has been a major theme for the Wind-Up monsters. It started with Wind-Up Dog and Wind-Up Soldier inGeneration Force then continued with Wind-Up Warrior in Photon Shockwave. Now the Dueling world’s premiere Rank 5 Xyz Monster Summoning machine is about to get the cards it needs to run like clockwork all the way through 2012 and beyond!
There are 2 things you need to do in order to Summon a Rank 5 Xyz Monster:
1.       Control 2 face-up monsters at the same time.
2.       Make sure they’re both Level 5.
This can sometimes be tough, because Level 5 monsters normally must be Tribute Summoned by Tributing a monster you already control. That makes it difficult to control 2 of them at the same time.  Certain Wind-Up monsters can make themselves Level 5 once, but you’ll still need 2 of them at the same time. And that’s why you need the all-new World Premiere card, Wind-Up Shark! Here’s what it does.
ORCS-EN082
When a “Wind-Up” monster is Normal or Special Summoned to your side of the field: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. Once per turn: You can activate 1 of these effects.Increase this card’s Level by 1, until the End Phase.
Reduce this card’s Level by 1, until the End Phase.
It’s easy to see why this is useful. If you have this card and another Wind-Up monster to Summon, you can have 2 monsters on the field in a flash. Then, you can use Wind-Up Shark’s Level changing ability to match it with your other Wind-Up monster. Then you can Xyz Summon!
Try this out:
1.       Normal Summon Wind-Up Soldier.
2.       Special Summon Wind-Up Shark.
3.       Activate each monster’s effect to increase its Level by 1.
4.       Xyz Summon a Rank 5 monster!
But what happens if the first Wind-Up monster you Summoned doesn’t have a Level-changing ability. For example, the adorable Wind-Up Kitten. Then it’s time to break out the Weights & Zenmaisures Spell Card! Here’s what it does.
ORCS-EN055
Target 2 face-up “Wind-Up” monsters you control with different Levels; your opponent chooses 1 of them, and the Level of the other monster becomes the same as the chosen monster’s, until the End Phase. Then, if your opponent chose the monster with a lower Level, you can draw 1 card.
Let’s say you Summoned Wind-Up Kitten and Wind-Up Shark. Here’s what you can do:
1.       First, use the effect of Wind-Up Shark. For this example, we’ll make him Level 5.
2.       Activate Weights & Zenmaisures targeting Level 2 Wind-Up Kitten and Level 5 Wind-Up Shark.
Now your opponent’s in trouble! He has to choose between making both monsters Level 5, letting you Summon a monster like Tiras, Keeper of Genesis or making them both Level 2, letting you Summon Gachi Gachi Gantetsu and draw 1 new card! It’s a win-win situation. You get to Xyz Summon a great monster either way!
Tiras, Keeper of Genesis is an incredible Xyz Monster, but he’s not always the best one for the job. While he can’t be destroyed by card effects, cards like Dimensional Prison can still banish him when he attacks. Adreus, Keeper of Armageddon can’t destroy face-down cards, leaving him vulnerable to things like Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo. But there’s a new Rank 5 monster to add to your Extra Deck in Order of Chaos! Available for the first time outside of Japan, it’s Wind-Up Arsenal Zenmaioh!
ORCS-EN098
2 Level 5 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 2 Set cards on the field; destroy them.
Now you have a Rank 5 Xyz Monster ready for every situation! It’s a great day to be a Wind-Up Duelist, and things are only going to get better once you can get your hands on new cards from Order of Chaos!
