Paradox’s Malefic Monsters from the new Yu-Gi-Oh! movie, Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D Bonds Beyond Time, are some of the biggest monsters around. Now, you can put all of Paradox’s monsters in your own Deck, thanks to the Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D: Bonds Beyond Time Movie Pack!
Every Malefic monster has the same strengths. They all have high ATK and can be Special Summoned from your hand with ease. They all follow similar special rules as well. Each of your biggest Malefic monsters is destroyed if there’s no Field Spell Card active, and most Malefic monsters prevent you from controlling other Malefic monsters or attacking with any other monsters you control.
Malefic World is the dark heart of a Malefic Deck, and arguably one of the strongest Field Spell Cards in the game. Instead of conducting your normal Draw Phase for the turn, Malefic Worldlets you search your Deck for 3 “Malefic” cards and randomly add one of them to your hand. You can even search for 3 copies of the same card with Malefic World’s effect, so that you’re guaranteed to add a copy of it to your hand. That enables you to grab a new monster to Summon every turn, so that your opponent always has a huge threat that he needs to contend with.
Malefic Stardust Dragon and Malefic Cyber End Dragon are 2 of the strongest monsters you can search for with Malefic World. Since Stardust Dragon and Cyber End Dragon both reside in the Extra Deck, playing Malefic Stardust Dragon and Malefic Cyber End Dragon won’t even require you to use up Main Deck space running their non-Malefic counterparts.
Once you activate Malefic World, you’ll probably never want to draw another card. The opportunity to search your Deck for a huge monster that’s free to Special Summon is just too good to pass up each turn. Even if you already control a Malefic monster and can’t Special Summon another one, you can use Malefic World to search your Deck for Malefic Truth Dragon, so that you have a monster to Special Summon immediately if your on-field Malefic monster is destroyed. Malefic Truth Dragon is a 5000 ATK monster that can be Special Summoned from your hand or Graveyard whenever one of your Malefic monsters is destroyed.
If you already have a Malefic monster on the field, you can also use Malefic World’s effect to search your Deck for a backup copy of Malefic World, in case your active copy gets destroyed. Or you can use Malefic World’s effect to grab another powerful Malefic monster, so that you’re able to replace the one you have on the field when it gets destroyed. Once you activateMalefic World, you’ll be sure to get a useful card in every Draw Phase.
Since Malefic monsters have such high ATK, they force opponents to get them off of the field immediately. That’s why the Malefic monsters are so devastating, even when you can only control and attack with 1 at a time. If an opponent can’t destroy your lone Malefic monster, he is sure to meet his defeat within just a few turns. And if he can destroy your monster, Malefic World will replace it with a new monster for you to Summon on your next turn. Some of the Malefic monsters are so strong that they end the Duel on the turn they’re Summoned, so the opponent barely gets a chance to destroy it. Since Malefic Cyber End Dragon is a Machine-Type monster, you can double its ATK to 8000 with Limiter Removal. That means it can secure a victory with a single direct attack!
Some Malefic Decks may choose to run other Malefic monsters too. Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon, for example, has 3000 ATK and can be Special Summoned from your hand by removing a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from your Deck. It packs the same punch as the classicBlue-Eyes White Dragon, but is a lot easier to Summon. Since it’s a Level 8 Malefic monster like Malefic Stardust Dragon, you can even Tune it with Malefic Parallel Gear to Synchro Summon Malefic Paradox Dragon, a 4000 ATK Synchro Monster that lets you Special Summon a Synchro Monster from either player’s Graveyard when it’s Summoned.
When you’re running a Malefic Deck, it’s important to get to Malefic World as quickly as possible since it fuels the entire Deck. If you’re using a lot of Level 8 monsters in your Deck, like Malefic Stardust Dragon and Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon, you can use Trade-In to draw Malefic World quicker. If you choose not to run Blue-Eyes White Dragon in your Deck, you can use Upstart Goblin instead. The 1000 Life Points are insignificant when your Deck is filled with searchable monsters that have 2500 ATK or more. Plus, after you use Upstart Goblin to give your opponent 1000 Life Points, you can use Megamorph to double the attack of your big monsters, allowing Malefic Truth Dragon to reach as high as 10,000 ATK!
Malefic Duelists can also use Terraforming to search for Malefic World, or Skill Drain to negate the Malefic monsters’ effects so that they survive even when Malefic World isn’t on the field. Since all of the big Malefic monsters are DARK monsters with at least 2500 ATK, if you include Deck Devastation Virus or Eradicator Epidemic Virus in your Main or Side Deck, you can Tribute just about any Malefic monster to activate them.
Malefic monsters are all easy to Summon and come with a lot of Attack Points. That makes Malefic Decks really fun to use. But they’re also a lot better than most Duelists give them credit for, and have a lot more support cards than most players realize. Try out the Deck, and you might be surprised by how quickly you can win with such big monsters!
