Each of the 3 Aesir in Storm of Ragnarok rule over their own tribe of Nordic monsters and Loki’s the Aesir in charge of the Nordic Alfar! The Nordic Alfar themselves work together to help you Synchro Summon Loki. Here are some combos you can do with these cards to Summon Loki and some cards that can help make your Nordic Alfar Deck stronger!
There are 3 Nordic Alfar monsters in Storm of Ragnarok, and they all work together to make the most of your hand and the Graveyard. Svartalf of the Nordic Alfar is your Level 5 Tuner and can return a Nordic monster from your Graveyard to your hand when you Normal Summon it.Ljosalf of the Nordic Alfar is a Level 4 monster that lets you Special Summon a Nordic monster from your hand whose Level is less than or equal to that of any other face-up monster you control. Finally, Dverg of the Nordic Alfar is a Level 1 monster which lets you Normal Summon an extra “Nordic Alfar” monster during the turn it’s Normal Summoned, and lets you add a Nordic Relic card from your Graveyard to your hand when it’s sent to the Graveyard itself. By combining all 3 of these monsters you can use their effects to set up several combos and Summon Loki, Lord of the Aesir with ease.
The hardest part about Summoning Loki, Lord of the Aesir with your Nordic Alfar monsters is that Svartalf of the Nordic Alfar’s a Level 5 monster, but Svartalf’s Level does also help you out when using your other Nordic monsters, especially Dverg. When you Normal SummonDverg of the Nordic Alfar, you get 1 extra Normal Summon of a Nordic monster for the turn and you can use that to Tribute Summon Svartalf. If you Tribute Dverg to Summon it you get to use Dverg’s second effect to add a Nordic Relic from your Graveyard to your hand. This also triggers Svartalf’s effect to return Dverg to your hand, which you can use again next turn to Summon it and Lsojalf to have everything you need to Synchro Summon Loki.
For this set of combos to work you need to be able to protect your Nordic Alfar long enough to have all 3 of them on the Field for your Synchro Summon. The Nordic Relics are Spells and Traps that help out all Nordic and Aesir monsters, and they’re great for this. They’re good to begin with, and you can use them over and over again with Dverg’s effect, making them even better! There’s another card in Storm of Ragnarok that you’ll also want to use and that’s The Nordic Lights, a World Premiere card designed to give Nordic Duelists a helping hand in Summoning their Aesir! When The Nordic Lights is on the field, all Nordic monsters on the field can’t be destroyed in battle, which lets them hang around long enough for you to Synchro Summon your Aesir. This Field Spell is especially useful in Nordic Alfar Decks as the Alfar all have low ATK and DEF and would otherwise have to rely on Nordic Relics to survive attacks.
The Nordic Lights also works well with your Nordic Relics to make sure you have a monster to use with them to begin with. Nordic Relic Brisingamen’s a Trap Card that makes one of your monsters have the same original ATK as one of your opponent’s monsters. Normally this would mean that both monsters destroy each other in battle but with The Nordic Lights on the field your Nordic monster’s safe while your opponent’s monster still gets destroyed! If you don’t have The Nordic Lights on the field though you can still combine Brisingamen with Dverg to destroy both monsters and then use Dverg’s effect to get Brisingamen back to your hand. One last thing to remember about The Nordic Lights is that when it’s destroyed, all face-up Nordic monsters on the field are destroyed as well. Fortunately you can use Nordic Relic Gungnir to remove a Nordic monster from play for 2 turns so that it won’t be destroyed, and you get to destroy another card on the field as well.
The Nordic Alfar are a tricky set of monsters to use but with the help of The Nordic Lights and your Nordic Relics they form the basis of an unpredictable Deck that your opponent will have trouble keeping up with. Storm of Ragnarok is on sale now
