The Scrap monsters debuted mere months ago in Duelist Revolution, but they’ve already made a big impact.  Scraps were first played at YCS Toronto, but their real breakthrough was a Top 16 finish at YCS San Jose.  They topped yet again at YCS Philadelphia, and at each of those tournaments we saw new ideas and new strategies in each Scrap Deck.  Scraps have had some impressive Top 8 finishes at recent Regional Qualifiers, too.  With those successes in the record books, Scrap Duelists are going to get a bundle of new tricks in Starstrike Blast, and 1 of them is an all-new card making its world debut: Scrap Mind Reader!
Once per turn, while this card is in your Graveyard during your Main Phase 2, you can select 1 face-up "Scrap" monster you control, except "Scrap Mind Reader". Destroy that monster and Special Summon this card from the Graveyard. If you do, remove this card from play when it is removed from the field. If this card is used as a Synchro Material Monster, all other Synchro Material Monsters must be "Scrap" monsters.
Scrap Mind Reader is a Level 1 Tuner with an effect that lets you Special Summon it from the Graveyard, so there are a lot of ways to bring it out of your Deck and into the Duel.  One forOne will Special Summon it straight from your Deck; Foolish Burial can send it to the Graveyard so you can use its effect; and you can Special Summon it with Scrap Chimera.  Once Mind Reader is in the mix there are a ton of different ways to use it, but you’ll probably find yourself playing it in three big ways.
First, it’s great for getting Scrap Chimera back to your hand.
The Scrap Deck is really all about Scrap Chimera: if you can keep Summoning Chimera, you can unleash a big Synchro Monster every turn.  Scrap Beast and Scrap Goblin both have effects that let you add a “Scrap” monster from your Graveyard to your hand when they’re destroyed by an effect, so Scrap Duelists often use Scrap Dragon and Scrapstorm to destroy Beast and Goblin; that triggers Beast or Goblin’s effect, and gets you back Chimera.  Now there’s a new way to do that: if you destroy either Tuner with Scrap Mind Reader’s effect, you’ll Special Summon Mind Reader and get back Scrap Chimera.
Think of all the times you’ve been stuck with a Scrap Goblin on your field, or had nothing butScrap Beast against a bigger monster; Scrap Mind Reader lets you trade that Tuner for ScrapChimera, and opens up your biggest plays.
Use Scrap Mind Reader to upgrade your “Scrap” Synchro Monsters!

Second, while Scrap Mind Reader’s says it can only be Tuned to other “Scrap” monsters, but there’s no restriction on what you can Synchro Summon.  Since Mind Reader is Level 1, you can Tune it to Scrap Archfiend to Synchro Summon any Level 8 Synchro Monster you want.
And don’t forget, you can Tune Scrap Mind Reader to Scrap Dragon, too.  That’ll bring out the new Level 9 “Scrap” Synchro Monster, Scrap Twin Dragon!  Or Tune Mind Reader to the newScrap Searcher and you can Synchro Summon Formula Synchron.  We’ll talk more aboutScrap Twin Dragon and Scrap Searcher after the Sneak Peek is over.
Summon Scrap Golem, then use its effect to Special Summon Scrap Mind Reader for a Level 6 Synchro Summon.

Finally, it’s a lot easier to Synchro Summon Level 6 monsters now that Scrap Mind Reader is here.  Scrap Golem’s effect lets you Special Summon a “Scrap” monster from your Graveyard. Most Duelists use it for Scrap Goblin to make a Level 8 Synchro Summon, but if you bring back Mind Reader instead, you can Tune it to the Golem to Synchro Summon a high-powered Level 6, like Goyo Guardian or Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier.  Both monsters have awesome effects, and Scrap Mind Reader makes it a snap to Summon them whereas previously both were difficult to make.
Scrap Mind Reader opens up a lot of options for Scrap Duelists, and it works with cards likeOne for One and Foolish Burial that were already good for Scrap Decks.  It even takes advantage of some of the combos you already rely on, making them bigger and more powerful.  You’ll find Scrap Mind Reader at your Starstrike Blast Sneak Peek on November 5thor 6th, but stick with us right here for now –  tomorrow, we’re going to talk about 2 more cards that are making their world debut in Starstrike Blast!
