Duelist Revolution contains many useful and powerful cards, and we’ve already seen lots of Duelists at the YCS events in Toronto, San Jose, and Bochum add cards from the new booster pack to their Decks. You can read up on every card we’ve looked at from Duelist Revolution so far here, but somehow we’ve managed to miss the card you see every time you open up a pack of Duelist Revolution: Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste!

Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste is a Fusion monster like nothing you’ve ever seen before, as it requires a Dragon-Type Synchro Monster as one of its Fusion Materials, and any Warrior-Type as the second monster. Most Extra Decks use Yusei’s signature monster, Stardust Dragon, which is a Level 8 Dragon-Type Synchro, and the Level 7 Black Rose Dragon as well. There are also cards like Scrap Dragon, Red Dragon Archfiend, Iron Chain Dragon and Infernity Doom Dragon, which are popular in many Decks. There are also many, many different Warriors you can use to Summon Draco-Equiste, from XX-Saber Fulhelmknight to D.D. Warrior Lady, and after the San Jose YCS, many people may play Elemental Hero Neos Alius as well.

To Fusion Summon Draco-Equiste, you’ll need the right Spell Card in your hand, as well as the right monsters on the field. Polymerization is the classic Spell Card that’s as old as Yu-Gi-Oh! Itself, and can be used to Summon any Fusion monster. You can send any Dragon Synchro from your field, along with any Warrior from your field or hand to Summon Draco-Equiste in this way.

Another card to use is Miracle Synchro Fusion, which removes the Fusion Materials on your field and in your Graveyard from play to Summon Draco-Equiste. Dragon’s Mirror also works if you’re using any Warriors in your Dragon Deck, or you happen to take one of your opponent’s Warriors with Monster Reborn.

One last card you can use is Super Polymerization, to use your opponent’s monsters as the Fusion Materials, as well as your own. This benefits you in 2 ways, you get rid of a threatening monster like Stardust Dragon, and Summon a bigger monster in its place! Duelists can’t Chain any cards to Super Polymerization either, so the Summon can’t be prevented with Royal Oppression or Solemn Warning.

You can use the effects of any Dragon-Type Synchro in either player's Graveyard.

Once you’ve Summoned Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste you can select 1 Dragon-Type Synchro Monster if the Graveyard, and copy its effects for the turn. You can even copy the name and effects of a monster in your opponent’s Graveyard, if one of their Dragons has a more useful effect than the ones in your Graveyard. One thing you need to keep in mind though is that if you copy Stardust Dragon and Tribute it during the turn, you won’t be able to Special Summon Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste in the End Phase.

There are many different things you can do with this effect. Since the Dragon you select is removed from play, you can copy your opponent’s Stardust Dragon if they Tributed it this turn, and it won’t come back in the End Phase. If you copy Hundred-Eyes Dragon, you can use its effect to copy a Level 6 or lower DARK monster’s effect in your Graveyard. If you copy Dark End Dragon you can reduce Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste’s ATK by 500 to send one of your opponent’s monsters to the Graveyard. By copying Scrap Dragon, Infernity Doom Dragon or Exploder Dragonwing, you can destroy your opponent’s monsters, and by copying Iron Chain Dragon you can send cards from your opponent’s Deck to the Graveyard when you inflict Battle Damage to your opponent’s Life Points.

Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste has another effect too. If your opponent tries to reduce your Life Points through a card effect, your opponent loses the Life Points instead. If your opponent is using a Burn Deck which has lots of cards effects like this, Draco-Equiste will stop them from playing all of them! Even if you don’t use any of Draco-Equiste’s effects, its 3200 ATK can take down anything that you can expect to see at a tournament, even heavy-hitters like Judgment Dragon (3000 ATK) and XX-Saber Gottoms (3100 ATK).

Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste is one of the most unique and powerful Fusion Monsters we’ve seen in a long time, and you can pick up your own copy in Duelist Revolution or in the Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste 2010 Collectible Tin!
