Hidden Arsenal 2 brought the “Fabled” monsters into the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME, a new family of cards that revolve around discarding cards from your hand, similar to what Dark World Decks did before. The headliner of these monsters is Fabled Valkyrus, a 2900 ATK Synchro Monster that lets you draw cards by discarding “Fabled” monsters. At Level 8 it’s a difficult card to Summon, but Fabled Raven from Duelist Revolution makes it a whole lot easier.

Fabled Raven is a Level 2 Tuner with 1300 ATK, but these stats can change very quickly. Once per turn you can discard any number of cards from your hand. Raven’s Level increases by 1 for each card you discard, and Raven will also gain 400 ATK for each of these cards as well. So if you discard 1 card for Fabled Raven’s effect, it becomes a Level 3 Tuner with 1700 ATK, and if you discard 2 it’s a 2100 ATK Level 4 Tuner! If you have enough cards in your hand and other monsters on the field, you can use Fabled Raven’s effect to enable a Synchro Summon of any Level.

One great thing about Fabled Raven’s effect is that discarding is an effect, not a cost, so you can activate the effects of any “Dark World” monsters you discard! If you discard Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World or Sillva, Warlord of Dark World, you can Special Summon these monsters to the field right away. This sets you up for a Level 8 Synchro Summon because both Goldd and Sillva are Level 5, and if you discard 1 of them for Fabled Raven, Raven becomes  a Level 3 Tuner, giving you the required Levels to Summon Stardust DragonColossal Fighteror even Fabled Valkyrus!
Fabled Raven works with the other “Dark World” monsters too. You can discard Beiige, Vanguard of Dark World to Special Summon it and Synchro Summon a Level 7 monster. If you discard Broww, Huntsman of Dark World you can draw a card, and if you discard Gren, Tactician of Dark World or Kahkki, Guerilla of Dark World, you can destroy your opponent’s cards!
Don’t forget that you can discard multiple cards for Fabled Raven’s effect, so you can combo these “Dark World” cards together before setting up a big Synchro Summon. Imagine discarding Beiige and Kahkki for example. Fabled Raven becomes a 2100 ATK Level 4 Tuner, and you Special Summon the Level 4 Beiige, ready for a Level 8 Synchro Summon. Also, thanks to Kahkki’s effect, you can destroy 1 of your opponent’s monsters!
Since Raven’s a “Fabled” monster, it works well with the other “Fabled” monsters, like Fabled Lurrie and Fabled Grimro. First off, Raven’s a “Fabled” Tuner, and is 1 of only 2 ways to Synchro Summon Fabled Valkyrus (for now!). You can also use Fabled Kushano to summon this powerful Synchro, and if you need a Level 3 Tuner instead of a Level 2, you can discardFabled Raven to add Fabled Kushano to your hand from the Graveyard. It’s easy to addFabled Raven from your Deck to your hand too, as you can get it with Fabled Grimro’s effect, and if Raven’s on the field, you can discard Grimro to add any other Fabled monster to your hand, like Fabled Lurrie. When Fabled Lurrie is discarded, it’s Special Summoned.
Fabled Raven can even discard both “Fabled” and “Dark World” monsters at the same time, and if you discard Fabled Lurrie and Beiige, Vanguard of Dark World together, you can Special Summon them both, Tune them up with the now Level 4 Fabled Raven, and Synchro Summon a Level 9 Mist Wurm to blast 3 of your opponent’s cards back to his hand!
If you picked up some “Fabled” monsters in Hidden Arsenal 2, or want to use your “Dark World” cards again in a new Deck, watch out for Fabled Raven from Duelist Revolution!!
