If you attended the The Shining Darkness sneak peek a couple weeks back, you may have inadvertently  attacked a few Ronintoadins during your sealed play. With 2000 DEF,Ronintoadin was a great card to defend with, stopping your opponent from making any sort of offense and buying time for you to draw your best cards. Now that the sneak peek has come and gone, however, you’ll find that there is a lot more to Ronintoadin than meets the eye.
While Ronintoadin is in your Graveyard, you can remove from play one “Frog” monster from your Graveyard to Special Summon it. It can’t be used for a Synchro Summon, but there are countless other uses for this effect, all of which can make your opponent go from laughing at the little toad to wishing he’d never seen it before.
The most obvious uses for Ronintoadin would be to put it in your Frog Deck. Whether it be aWetlands Deck with many small frogs like Unifrog, Poison Draw Frog, and Submarine Frog, or a Des Frog–centric Deck with Des Croaking waiting in the wings, Ronintoadin opens up some great combos for both Decks. With a Ronintoadin and a Substitoad on the field, you can use Substitoad’s effect to tribute the Ronintoadin and Special Summon any other frog from your Deck. One of the best frogs to get is Swap Frog.
When Swap Frog is Summoned, you can activate its effect to send a Level 2 or lower Aqua-Type monster from your Deck or field to the Graveyard. You can send a Poison Draw Frog you control to the Graveyard and then use its effect to draw a card, or load your Graveyard with important monsters like Treeborn Frog and Ronintoadin.
If you use Substitoad you can keep Tributing monsters until you have all the frogs you need in the Graveyard. Not only that, but you still have Ronintoadin in your Graveyard with a full cast of frogs waiting to be removed for its effect. The end result is that you can use it withSubstitoad to load up your field with any and all frogs you could ever want. If you’re running a Deck built around Wetlands,  three Submarine Frogs with a combined ATK of 7200  withWetlands factored in would do nicely. If you’re using Des Frog, then get three of them and blow away all your opponent’s cards with Des Croaking and make a huge blow to their Life Points too. The possibilities are endless!
Hahahaha! More frogs! MORE!

Ronintoadin has even more uses though. It’s made Inferno Reckless Summon a great card to use in a Des Frog Deck. Using Ronintoadin’s effect, you can Special Summon it from your Graveyard, activate Inferno Reckless Summon when the toad is Summoned and since its name is treated as “Des Frog” while it’s on the field, you can Special Summon three Des Frogsfrom your hand, Deck, or Graveyard. Follow that up with a Des Croaking and the game might as well be over!
Ronintoadin is useful in more than just pure Frog Decks though. In the newly popular Frog Monarch deck, Ronintoadin can bring itself back to the field after removing a used up Swap Frog from your Graveyard. Then you can tribute the Special Summoned Ronintoadin for whatever Monarch you have waiting in your hand, or if you had Treeborn Frog in your Graveyard as well, you could bring Ronintoadin out and summon a Light and Darkness Dragon from your hand. Like I said above, the possibilities truly are endless!
