There are many useful and powerful Fairy-Type monsters available to Duelists who want to make a Fairy Deck. Archlord Krystia is a powerhouse, adding a Fairy-Type monster from your Graveyard to your hand when it’s Special Summoned by its own effect, and then stopping all Special Summoning.  Dimensional Alchemist can remove the top card of your Deck from play to gain 500 ATK, and when it’s destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, you can choose any of your removed from play monsters to add to your hand. In The Shining Darkness, Fairy Decks have another card that can swing Duels in their favour, the Level 6 Ritual monster Herald of Perfection.

Herald of Perfection is Summoned using the Ritual Spell Card, Dawn of the Herald. When you activate Dawn of the Herald, you must Tribute monsters from your hand or field whose Levels add up to exactly 6. Then, when Herald of Perfection is Summoned, you can remove Dawn of the Herald in your Graveyard from play to return one of the monsters you Tributed to your hand!

Herald of Perfection can negate anything your opponent throws at it.

Herald of Perfection’s effect lets you send 1 Fairy-Type monster from your Hand to the Graveyard to negate the activation of a Spell or Trap Card, or the activation of a monster effect, and then destroy the card. Its effect can be used on your opponent’s turn too, so if your opponent tries to destroy Herald of Perfection with Smashing Ground, you can send a Fairy to the Graveyard to keep your Herald safe! Herald of Perfection’s effect can even be used in the Damage Step, so effects like your opponent’s Blackwing – Kalut the Moon Shadow and Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter can be negated as well.

Since you have to send Fairy-Type monsters from your hand to the Graveyard for Herald of Perfection’s effect, Herald will naturally work best in a Fairy Deck. A Deck like this will be able to make the most of Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands, which can add either Herald of Perfection or Dawn of the Herald from your Deck to your hand, and Senju of the Thousand Hands, which can add Herald of Perfection to your hand. Once you’ve added the card you need to your hand, you can Tribute Manju or Senju for Dawn of the Herald, and then add them to your hand again with its effect!
Manju and Senju are both Fairy-Type monsters too, so you can use them for Herald ofPerfection’s effect to negate your opponent’s cards. Since you’re sending so many Fairy-Type monsters to the Graveyard to both Summon Herald of Perfection and use its effect, Archlord Krystia becomes a great card to end Duels with. When you have exactly 4 Fairy-Type monsters in the Graveyard, you can Summon Krystia and add a Fairy from your Graveyard to your hand. Krystia also stops your opponent from Special Summoning, so they’ll be hard pressed to Summon a monster big enough to take on Herald of Perfection’s 2800 DEF.
The one-two punch from Herald of Perfection and Archlord Krystia was enough to land Russell LaParre in the Top 8 of YCS Chantilly. You can read all about his Deck here!

Dawn of the Herald lets you bring back any monster that was Tributed for the Summon ofHerald of Perfection, not just Fairy-Type monsters. If you’re playing Level 6 monsteres likeCaius the Shadow Monarch and Chaos Sorcerer, you can use them as the Tribute for the Ritual Spell and then immediately add them back to your hand!
Herald of Perfection is just what Fairy Decks needed to break into the competitive spotlight, and can be used in many different ways. If you’re using a Fairy Deck, or even just a Ritual Deck, try out Herald of Perfection and see how powerful it can be.
